Skins History

Craig Takes the 2010 Christmas Classic.

18th December:

This year we had nine starters plus the injured Hamish walking the last two holes and joining the after match celebration. The rules were set by Stix: irons only (no hybrids) except for the longest drive hole where the driver could be used.

Craig was a deserved winner after showing great form late in the year. Some said that this was due to the sledging provided by David.

As the 2009 winner Mario had a prior engagement, the trophy was presented by 2010 Skins Champion PeterD.

PeterD takes the final round after a yet another countback

4th December:
[Presentation 04-Dec-2010]
Trophy presentation

This round's countback saw PeterD defeat Mario.

Craig had his best round of the year which would have been good enough to win the Nth Turramurra Stroke play competition.

Countback Effrontery In the Rain

6th November:
[Unhappy runner-up]
The Unhappy Runner-up

The skins countback corruption continues with PeterH winning yet another trophy after a countback. We have had 8 wins on countback during 2010 and this is the 4th going to PeterH.

The runner-up expressed displeasure, refused to be interviewed and stormed off in the now traditional manner.

The bitterness produced by the factional warfare in the last round is still running under the surface but no new factions have appeared. Perhaps Steve can come up with one for the next round.

Mario amused his group when he made a recovery shot into a tree guard and back to his feet.

Very wet.

Stix takes Skins After Factional Conflict

23rd October:
[Presentation 23-Oct-2010]

Stix has taken the Skins Trophy just ahead of Craig in a match at Cypress Lakes that will be remembered for the beginning of factions.

Individual Scores
[Name (hcap) Stableford points Skins]:
[The dora creek faction]
The Dora Creek Faction speeding home

The Dora Creek faction was formed and its first act was to snub the traditional skins results meeting by rushing off to the Dora Creek BBQ.

This resulted in an extreme reaction from the Founding Member and Annarchy factions demanding the disqualification of the absent members.

The Dora Creek faction was not happy about this and there has been talk of a breakaway tournament similar to the forming of the DLP after the Labor Party split in 1954.

Watch this space for more news as it happens.

Birdies:
Interesting Shots of The Round

PeterH managed to hit the roof of a resort unit bordering the par 3 15th hole. The ball was then skillfully guided back on to the course and into a fairway bunker.

Nearest to the pin (Cypress Lakes 4th hole):

PeterD was the only one to make the green and won with a tee shot to 50 metres from the flag.

Longest drive (Cypress Lakes 14th hole):

Stix won the longest drive with a 220m shot, a few metres past Steve overcoming some dubious protests over longest from the Tee versus closest to the green.

Catering:

was a mixed affair: snacks provided by Cypress Lakes and a BBQ provided by Rob Chapman at Dora Creek. Next time catering is by Stix as Taylor is going hunting [defenceless animals].

Weather:

Warm, breezy, humid and tense.

[Presentation 25-Sep-2010]

The Skins win was after a countback once more but this time the loser conceded graciously and presented himself at the press conference.

The course was shortened considerably following maintenance on the tees and PeterD took advantage of this to score 43 stableford points and win the Nth Turramurra competition for the second time in 2 weeks.

Steve defended his Nearest to the pin win from last match with a very accurate tee shot to the shortened 4th hole and added the longest drive as well.

Mario takes first awarded Triple Crown!

14th August:

Mario showed amazing skills today in taking the first awarded Triple Crown in the North Turramurra Skins competition, fending off a late charge by Craig for the skins and the longest drive.

Mario was involved in everything with the best shot of the day to net a 2 for 5 points birdie on the 14th as well as the amazing reverse over the head shot on the 5th hole after hitting the path directly in front of him to propel the ball an unknown number of metres behind the tee (we lost the ball so could not figure out how far backwards it really went!)

Other noteworthy events were 4 good shots on the 4th, all hitting the green with all players getting their par. It was considered noteworthy because we deemed it unlikely this had ever happened before.
